His name is pronounced “ILL-yuss.”

• Undergraduate: Florida State University
• Juris Doctor (with honors): University of Miami School of Law

While in law school, Ilyas participated in a pioneering program that united the University of Miami’s medical and law schools. He worked with physicians at the Miami VA clinic, helping veterans with legal issues tied to their medical conditions. His work on a groundbreaking case involving a stroke patient was later published by the International Conference on Communication in Healthcare.
